1 year old daughter with bedbugs

So its safe to use on or around beds but if the product is completely dry. Do we need to wash the treated areas before letting her in the area? Is it safe for her to sleep in her bed at night? I don't want her to inhale anything that could harm her.

Hi Brittany. You'll want to let her room air out very thoroughly before allowing your daughter back inside to sleep. Wash and dry all of her bedding at high heat; no need to wash treated surfaces, though.

Hi Angie. Yes, it's ok to spot treat on your walls if you're having problems there -- just test on a small, inconspicuous area of your paint, wallpaper or paneling for staining before you treat everywhere.

If you're treating the entire house, all people and pets should leave. If you're only treating select rooms, moving your dog to another area of the house until the spray is completely dry is sufficient.

Generally, this powder is safe to use if you have dogs, but they should be out of the area while you're applying (to avoid inhalation until the dust settles) and you should seep the powder into cracks and crevices wherever possible. For health-related concerns, please call us at 1-800-633-2873.

Question

Does the hot shot flea and beg bug spray work

I live in an apartment and was told that it would be hard for my husband and I to get rid of the bed bugs by ourselves. We would have to pay 800-900 for an exterminator to come out. Our kids went on an field trip to a woody area and bought them back.

You can control bed bugs yourself, but patience and persistence will be needed. Spray around the bed, baseboards and around carpeting (in labeled areas where bed bugs are a problem), then continue to follow up weekly until they're gone. Vacuum often and wash and dry all bedding and other infested washables at the highest heat the fabric can withstand. Good luck!

You should continue to spot treat areas where you're seeing bedbugs as needed. You should not treat your bedding -- wash and dry everything at high heat to kill bedbugs and their eggs. This is a non-staining product, but we do recommend testing on a small, inconspicuous area of your particular furniture before spraying everywhere.

You should not use on your cat, but you can spray if you have a cat in the house -- just keep your cat out of the treatment area until the spray has dried completely. If you have fleas, you'll want to treat your cat with a pet-approved control product (talk to your vet) concurrently.

If your problem is severe, if you're not reaching bedbugs in their hiding places, or if you're not doing appropriate followup treatment as necessary, a bedbug problem can persist. We recommend doing a fogger treatment (Hot Shot Bedbug & Flea Fogger) to blanket the entire affected area and using the aerosol product (Hot Shot Bedbug & Flea Killer aerosol) to spot treat problem areas, like mattress folds, behind the bedboard, etc. Treat very thoroughly, then follow up with an additional treatment a week later. If there are still stragglers, treat again. If you continue to see large numbers of bedbugs after careful and persistent treatment, we recommend calling a professional. Good luck! Please call us at 1-800-917-5431 if we can be of further assistance.
