Question

Roaches walking past the trap...

Level of infestation- mild to moderate. Type of roach observed-- small (about 5-8 mm), black/ brown, shiny roaches, that do not appear to have the capacity to fly.

I have placed them in strategic positions as per package directions...in areas where roaches were previously observed, under sink... No leftover food is exposed. Area is kept clean.

There is no visible decrease in roach traffic after two days. I have seen on three different occasions, roaches crawling past the bait station. At which point I just grab my trusty roach spray, which instantaneously does the trick. But I was really hoping these bait stations would decrease the need for me to do this.

What is wrong?

You say you have had the Hot Shot Roach Baits in place for two days -- please give it a couple more days. Have you taken care to make sure there are no alternate sources of water available (like dripping faucets or leaky pipes)? If the roaches are finding moisture elsewhere, they're much less likely to enter the baits in search of water. Please update us in a couple of days.

Can you tell where the roaches are coming in to the dishwasher? We would recommend applying there or inside the empty dishwasher itself until the problem is taken care of. Please call us at 1-800-917-5431 and we'd be happy to discuss with you.

You can use these on windowsills in your kitchen and over non-food contact areas. They shouldn't be used on areas that contact food, though.

These baits are child tamper-resistant, but they should be placed in areas out of a children's reach (behind furniture, behind appliances, etc.). There are no inhalation hazards but the bait should not be ingested.

Sure, you use near walls anywhere roaches are a problem -- including around electrical outlets. Even if you aren't seeing dead roaches, are you seeing fewer roaches? The active ingredient will take several hours to work once a roach eats the bait, allowing them to carry the insecticide back to the nest. Please let us know if you're still not noticing a reduction in the number of roaches you're seeing in a couple of days: 1-800-917-5431.

This bait lasts up to six months; if your bait was older than that, chances are that the active ingredient is no longer working or that there is no active ingredient left inside. Please follow up with our first aid hotline at 1-800-633-2873, however.

Question

Mine don't work was there something else I was supposed to do?

Put out 2 boxes of 12 when I saw some baby roaches.
Have not seen any dead roaches except what I killed. I even forced 2 into the traps and they crawled out alive a few minutes later.I put them in a jar and watched them for 2 days to see if they would die. I finally killed them my self. Now I have a lot more roaches than I started with!!
Why are they not working? was I supposed to open the traps? your instructions are not clear and the traps are very hard to seperate.

You only need to separate the bait station and position them as described on the packaging. A bait such as this one will not kill on contact; the active ingredient will take a few hours to kill once it's ingested, so it's likely that you won't see dead roaches everywhere. The bait does contain an attractant to draw roaches into the station, so you could temporarily see more roaches if you have a heavy infestation. Please call us at 1-800-917-5431 if you don't see a drastic reduction in the number of roaches you see over the next couple of days.

There are no additional precautions against using in a home with a pregnant woman. We do recommend that someone else place the baits for you, however.

Question

Can Roach Bait kill a rat?

We saw a hole in the screen on Friday morning with evidence that a rat entered the house. We closed up the hole and set a rat trap outside. Then we realized the rat was still in the house and eating our cockroach bait. I know 3 baits are completely missing and one under my lazy susan has been ripped open and a chunck of the poison eaten. The rat potentially ate 3 1/4 roach baits. Is this enough to kill the rat? I haven't seen any movement from this rat today and yesterday it didn't even touch the peanut butter on the rat trap, it is addicted to the roach bait potion! Thanks for any help.
